April 20 2008 - Comic Reviews for the week Arpil 16 2008

Ok here we go one more week of comics and some more reviews. But this week I was not the only one missing one of my key books in my pull list. It looks like a lot people on the west coast did not get their copy of Amazing Spider-Man #557.

I am not sure what the hell marvel was thinking so when I get my copy. I will post a review of it. So here we go with the books of the week it was not a busy week for me. These reviews contains Spoilers.

Captain America #37

This book is the first in the act of 3 of " The Death of Captain America ". After the great end in the last issue this book did not live up to where I was hoping the book to go. But yet it is also the first book in a new act. This book is full of weird stuff I am talking weird like WHAT THE FUCK every other page. There is a part in this book where Bucky is having a dream sequence. Where Bucky talks to Captain America about the internet and how he did not text his girl so Cap tells him that Bob Hope will do it for him all this takes places some in the 1940's doing War World II.

There is a what looks like a great fight with Hawkeye and Bucky but is more of a teas then anything you think there is going to be this great fight but no. I am sure it is there to set up stuff for a later issue.

Then we get the WHAT THE FUCK ending of the book one more time Sharon (who is having Captain Americas Kid) once again finds Steve Rogers with bullet scars and etc now conscious on a table ask her who she is. The Red Skull plans no more than the destruction of America but he does that in every book but it works so well when Brubaker is on his game.This book did not have one boring moment at all. I hate to say it but I am still not a fan of Steve Epting art work. I was just hoping the we would found out more about the clone (I think)that Sharon finds in the end of the last issue.

Story: 4 - Very Good Art: 3 - Good

Catwoman #78

Oh yeah Catwoman now we are talking about the lady. Looking for a way off of the Hell Planet. This time she tries to get help from some of her not so close friends let's just call them her arch-nemesis

With two of my favorite villains in the Catwoman world (Hammer and Sickle) and I love the talk that Catwoman gives them about Lex Luthor and his capitalist ideologies but what makes this book fun to read was not that or the cat fight with Cheetah.

It is the story line that is taking place back on earth has her dad trying to found out more about where she went missing. Is funny that Cabwoman’s dad is a detective just like the other man. In her life that has a utility belt and like dressing up as a Bat.

I can't wait to see what goes down in the next issue. On a side note one more great cover by Adam Huges and this was issue 78 and it was the may issue that makes it badass since I was born in 1978 in May.

Story: 3 - Good Art: 3 - Good

Robin # 173 - PICK OF THE WEEK !!!!

Before you read this review just know that I am now part of the Violet fan club and I want her to get her solo book. Ok now on with the review a few issue back I was mad at this book was not going anywhere and now it is going somewhere and I am loving it.

But as a comic dork such as my self there is little stuff I don't like about this book such as Robin having a car. That is not working for me how the hell does his car still run after it gets hit so hard. What the hell Chuck Dixon you are better writer then that.

I am one of the few people that were not a big fan of Freddie Williams's artwork. I am happy he is not the artist working on this book anymore. I know he did the cover but does not feel like a Photoshop file like is other work.

Now we know that Spoiler is not Stephanie. We got to see her out the shadows for the first time. I love that Tim Drake is now Tim Wayne and he has to get used to being call Mr. Wayne. I love how he takes time to go visit his friend who is sick with Cancer (Follicular Lymphoma) made me think a lot of when my friends came over when I was sick with Cancer my self. But no one rub my head and call me Lex.

I am still a bit mad about the car but I am ok with that because this book was a lot of fun and it is my PICK OF THE WEEK because when you are done reading it. You know this story line is only going to get better.

I can't wait to see what Chuck Dixon has in line for us. This will make for a great trade paper back.

Story: 4 - Very Good Art: 4 - Very Good

X -Factor # 30

Oh X -Factor if I was not such a big X-Men slut. I would drop you a long time a go.I had hope for you because in the last issue you show me one of my favorite X-Men arch-nemesis Arcade who I have been a fan since I read about him in Uncanny X-Men #123. He was on the cover and you had the best cover of the week. Yet your where just a cock teas.

Why where you just a waste of my time and it was a way to get the X-Factor team back after all the stuff that went down in Messiah complex. How can you do this to me I have been with you since issue one.The end of the story you told me if I was not a god loving man and if I did took drugs I would just die and no one cares about me. How can you do this to me?

Why are you so disappointing? You have the great Peter David working on you. But yet you still made me VERY MAD that I spend any quality time on you. I don’t know if I can read you anymore.

Story: 1 - Poor Art: 1 - Poor

X-Men Divided We Stand #1 (OF 2)

I am not sure I was going to like this book but I did and I did not. There are five story lines in this book. It is a way to take a solo looks at some of the mutants and where they are now in there live after Messiah Complex.

The first story line has do with Sam Guthrie (Cannonball) trying to go home to some small town and people don't like him there because he is a mutant. It was ok story line. It was only 8 pages long and after 3 pages I did not care about this story at all. The artwork was over the top for this story.

Story two was about Nehzno as I was getting into the story it was over it felt like it was missing other 2 pages. I wanted to know more about his trip back home to Wakanda. I hate it the artwork on this story line.

By far story number three was my favorite one. It is the story over a very depressed Anole (New X-Men) and Northstar try’s to help him out. I wanted to cry over I was done. I want more of his story line. There a line in their shows the X-Men are all about when Anole tells Northstar " It's not about being accepted as a mutant or for being gay! They accept me. “That is the story that the X-Men books have been trying to tell since day one. People have to accept you for who you are.They’re is also a part at the end of the story where it was so fucking sad when you see a note has on his little monster to tell his mom and dad that he is sorry being a mutant. Wow that was one of the best short story I have read in a long time.

As far story number four and five. I just did not care at all about them. I wish number three was longer and I wish number two had a bit more to say.

April 18 2008 - The Hulk using John Romita Sr 4 inspiration ?

Sometime this week the new Hulk poster was posted on the Internet. I am not here to blog about what I think of the movie so far. I did that on a podcast sometime back. But can't help to thing the poster looks kind of like something I saw before in the comic world. Guess it is just me being a fan boy or does it look very much like Amazing Spider-Man number 50

Yeah both are Marvel I know the Spider-Man cover has been use with Charlie Brown. The Hulk poster is there to show there is two side of every story. When you have Dr.Bruce Banner has a secret identity when he gets mad he been comes The Hulk. It also a great way to use the everyone has a dark side story line. The Spider-Man cover is a powerfull image. By far I am not talking shit at all about John Romita Sr art work the man is a god. All I am saying is that 41 years later this cover still has the same impact as it did back in July of 1967.

I would love to know if the Graphic Designer who made the Hulk poster uses that cover as inspiration for the poster.

When the Hulk film come out be sure to come back to the site where I will have a review of it. Also let me know if this is just me being a dorky comic book fan boy or not.

April 16 2008 - Green Lantern Mini Munny

The other day I was talking about a Munny that I am working on. Well I am working on a new Munny. But this is not the one I was talking about the other day. But I have been reading a lot of Green Lantern the past few months. I think it would be cute to make a Green Lantern Munny. I am not saying this is Hal Jordan. It is just some random Lantern.

I hope to have him done sometime next week. I really enjoy workig on this Mini Munnys they are a lot of fun. You can see the photos on my flickr page.

April 16 2008 - Idea for my birthday

Ok I hate to talk about my self this way but FUCK I am going to be 30 on May 28. I don't know what I want for my birthday part of me. Wants to get a new tattoo something that shows my life so far. Everyone and their mom make such a big deal about 30. I feel like I would be missing something if I did not do anything for it.

I want to get an Iron Man tattoo because if you know the history with Tony Stark and his health. I kind had the same thing when. I was sick the first time around my chest would have pierced my heart. If I did not go to the emergency room. If I would wait like 20 minutes I would not be here right now I would have been six feet under. I want get it on my left arm since that is my arm that needs colors and also it everything that is an inspiration to me in my life. Back in 1984 I got into due Marvels Secret Wars comic book series. When I was a kid reading comics and also playing with the Iron Man toy.

I fall in love with Iron Man around that time. I know with the new film coming out and also I have been a fan of Iron Man for around 24 years now. That is a long time. Yeah some people may thing he was a jerk in Marvel Civil War. But he is still one of my favorite comic book heroes of all time. I also develop a serious dependency with painkillers. Tony had it with alcohol this is just an idea.

Shit after all I can get the SImon Mobile since the Pope has the Pope Mobile. But I think I am going with the new tattoo.

The trailer for the new Clone Wars movie has just been “released” by a Polish distributor. Obviously, this makes it unofficial. However, the trailer includes new footage, and looks more like the real thing than a fake could be. I am unsure how this was leaked, as the trailer was supposed to come out in Warner Brothers: Speed Racer, which premiers on May 9th. Enjoy for now I know I can't wait to see this in HD.

April 11 2008 - This is man is a killer not a artist

My friend Lilly Lashes posted a Blog about this so call artist by Guillermo Varga.Took a dog from the street tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death.

Guillermo Vargas is a KILLER. How can this man live with him self. How can he go on living with his self-knowing that he kill a dog? This man is a Killer and I hope he will be buried in the same box, as a killer, as a killer, as a killer does not be ashamed to slaughter of this man. Execution needed a bloody vessel for your peace if man makes death then death makes man tear the torso with horses and chains killers view themselves like they view the world, they pick at the por.

All I preach is extinction when I see people like this KILLER name Guillermo Vargas. I hope he will be Suffering just like that dog did when he die. I hope that is soon because man kills everything. This man is pure EVIL.

PLEASE HELP TO STOP THIS KILLER by sign the petetion to stop this asshole.

April 10 2008 - Comic Reviews for the week Arpil 9 2008

The BND (Brand New Day) stuff is great for a fun read after all it was like that when Stan Lee was working on the book back in the 1960's is and I enjoy the artwork a lot by Chris Bachalo. Can't wait to till next week for issue # 557. I love that this book comes out three times a month now.

Story: 3 - Good Art: 5 - Excellent

Fantastic Four #556

I am very mad at my self. To thinking this was going to be a great run. Because of Millar and Hitch. It has been a lot of fun so far but this last issue SUCK. How can the best hero’s in the Marvel universe. Can't stop this robot of cap who looks a lot like Iron Man in the ultimate universe but yet Reed Richards can stop him by him self. I don't care one bit about Johnny being a rock star on a TV show.

I hope this next issue will save this story line. Because it is a waist of my time. I love Mark Millar I think the stuff that he is doing on his other book over at Marvel Kick Ass does kick ass but this. I am not happy with one bit. As far Hitch's artwork it was not that great.

I was very let down with Fantastic Four # 556.After I was done reading it I was like WTF was that and why do I care about this book.

Story: 1 - Poor Art: 2 - Average

Simon Dark #7

I have been in love with this book for sometime now. OK but I am sorry I was kind of mad. No No let's say it I WAS VERY FUCKING MAD when. I found out that there is Zombies in this book. I know that Steve Niles is the man behind 30 Days of Night but still why does he have to make it into this Zombie book and why does Simon get a new face anytime he wants.

If your hero has a mask on don't show his face it takes out the fun out of the story. I hoping this book will get back to being back who is Simon Dark where does he come from. We did get a bit of that in this book but I feel like is going to be come a Zombie story now.

I would be very mad if this end up to be a book about a guy who has a past who is going to stop this attack of Zombies,fall in love and the end of the book he is going to die. When it first it was a book that made me think a of lot one of my favorite comics of all time Alan Moore's V for Vendetta. Now it is just one more zombie story Blah.

Wolverine #64 - PICK OF THE WEEK !!!!

This book was brilliant. At the end of the last issue I was not sure about something I was just thinking a bit to much into but now. I am sure the man that helps Wolverine is the one and only Osama bin Laden. That is right you kids he may not be call Osama bin Laden in this book but when you know your history about the US and Bin Laden. You know that he was part of the fight vs. the Russians (red army) back in 1985. But this not a review on the history of war.

So let's get back to this book. I don't care about the stuff that when down in Kansas City in 1921 with Logan and Mystique and I don't think it has anything to do with the story it just show that there where a team long before the X-Men where in the picture. In the bedroom and out of the bedroom. What makes this story line great is just like a never end game of cat and mouse with this two. It also show how this two are some of the best people in the X-Men universe.

I know wolverine has a fan club bigger then god his self. But a lot of people don't care about Mystique and for the first time in a long time. Some one is doing a great story about her yet the book may be call Wolverine but this run is about both of them. I don't how this story line is end but right now I am enjoy it a lot.

April 5 2008 - Forty Years Later

On Friday it was forty years that have passed since the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. Maybe one of the best Americans who ever live and thanks to people like Dr.King we now have a " Black man " running for President of the United States but yet.

We still have some people out there that can't get past a man or woman color of there skin. I hate to say it but at the end of are lives we are all just bones when we are six feet under. It is sad those forty years later. Racial discrimination is still a big part of the world we live in. When you have John McCain who is running for President vote it against the Martin Luther King holiday. But yet now that the eye of the world is on him he is sorry.

McCain had made a similar concession in South Carolina after his 2000 bid for the Republican presidential nomination, saying that he believed the Confederate flag should be removed from atop the state Capitol but that he didn't have the guts to say so when it mattered. Please think about all this when you are voting this November.

April 5 2008 - SECRET INVASION #1 REVIEW

This review has Spoilers

This is my review of Marvels Secret Invasion # 1 of 8

Since the New Avengers started when Bendis got on this book. You can tell that where going to get some Skrull love and IS HERE kids and guess what Shit just got real. I was very very happy with the first part of 8.

I am not shock about Hank Pym come on he is Bipolar I did love how Reed look after he got a gun to his face. I have been saying that Sue is a SKRULL since Fantastic Four # 554.

I love that Jarvis puts the alien virus to all of Tony Starks enterprises and his armor.You need it some inside at S.H.I.E.L.D to be a skrull Dum Dum Dugan (I fucking hate that name) was the right man at the right time.I am not shock about Captain Marvel. Just look at one of the cover of his book.

I just don't know about the end. I think 50% of the people on the Skrull ship are Skrull. I guess will just have to wait and see and that is what makes comics fun right? Also who do you trust?

I don’t know why but I think Aunt May is a SKRULL the bitch does not want to die. I am sure I will do a Podcast about Secret Invasion in the next few weeks.

April 4 2008 - LA Jedi helps Dominic

As some of you know I play with Lightsaber with other Star Wars Fans here in Los Angeles we call are self LAJedi.

One thing we try doing at LA Jedi is help people. This time we went out to visit a terminally ill child. His name is Dominic and he is 4 years old. They are expecting his 5th birthday to be his last.

He weighs 45 pounds and has CP and Spinal Muscular Atrophy, as well as two other things affecting his health.

I am so happy that we made Dominic happy.I am so happy The La Jedi did this as a group . It was one of the best day of my life by far. If you like you can check out more photos on my Flickr page.
